Sesame oil, salt and pepper
A very tasty food that makes the flavor of what you are frying shine through. 2 teaspoons of toasted sesame oil plus 1 pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Ssamjang
It’s a great sauce that works best when you pour it over your sesame! 1 teaspoon doenjang, gochujang, toasted sesame oil, honey, dried sesame seeds and 1 clove garlic, minced.
Gochujang is sweet and spicy
This is a delicious and aromatic dish that goes well with everything. 1 tbsp gochujang, sugar or honey and rice wine, plus a squeeze of fresh lemon and sliced green onions or dried sesame seeds.
Spinach
Lettuce: You will need lots of lettuce and perilla to wrap your grilled meat into bite-sized pieces. I like to offer a bunch of different lettuces. Lettuce for Korean BBQ to try: red leaf, green leaf, butter, romaine, iceberg, really, any lettuce you like, can be used as a dressing. Perilla: Get perilla when you’re at a Korean market. It is a broad, flat leaf that is sometimes called a sesame leaf. Perillas are part of the mint family, but they don’t taste like mint, like Japanese shiso (if you have it) or the fresh herbal flavor of anise.
Chili: It wouldn’t be Korean food without a bit of chili. Most Korean restaurants will chop Korean greens, but you can chop jalapeños or serranos.
Scallions: A large pile of sliced or grated scallions adds freshness and flavor. Often times, scallions are tossed in a little soy, toasted sesame oil, sugar and sesame seeds for a quick scallion salad that’s delicious with bacon.
Crunchy Vegetables: You can also add crunchy vegetables or slices like cucumber and carrot. Garlic: Raw garlic slices for garlic lovers – just put a slice on top of your meat and sesame
Rice or noodles
You will probably be full after all the meat, but most KBBQ places serve rice and noodles at the end, just to complete the meal. Mike likes to add rice to his ssam, so if you like, serve your KBBQ with a rice bowl. As for the noodles, well, who doesn’t love noodles? Naengmyeon, or cold noodles, are very popular because after all the heat, you want to enjoy a bowl of slippery, delicious frozen noodles. Follow for more : additional info
